About Me

Hello,

Thank you for visiting ♡

I’m Nana N Yoshida, an artist, writer, designer, and tailor.

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, during the economic bubble of the 1980s and 90s. There were so many varieties of things available in Japan at the time, but I rarely found any clothes I liked. So, I started making my own when I was a teen.

Two months after I graduated from my high school located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, I moved to NYC by myself. And I have lived in Brooklyn since 1996. At one point, I realized that making clothes was easier than finding clothes I liked. And making my own outfits fulfilled my basic needs—mentally and physically. So, I have made all my clothes ever since (except for some knit items). I also designed and made several costumes for recording artists based in NYC in the past.

Besides writing about sewing and fashion, I also enjoy sharing about my stories growing up in Tokyo, and living in Brooklyn, NY, since the 90s.

You can reach out to me if you have any questions. ♡

Xoxo,

Nana
